Something I am extremely passionate about and care about is Human rights, and human rights for all people, everywhere. Since as early as 1948, the year of the Nakba, when more than half of the Palestinian population was forced to leave their homeland, Palestinian people have been persecuted by Israel and the Israeli government.
I have always been a proponent and advocate for the freedom of Palestine from Israel and thus have attended multiple marches, protests and rallies in support of Palestine. For one of these marches in Boston, I took my camera with me to document the people and the event.
From the days of the colonists to now, Boston has seen its fair share of protests, riots and rebellions. The city and its people are known for their history in activism and change and that holds true today. Marching through the streets of Boston with this group of people was electrifying. Everywhere I looked people were coming out of buildings to cheer us on, take videos and participate in the march. Thousands of people came out to support Palestinians right to live and the city was alive with the energy. My favorite part about the march was the diversity of people I saw in the crowd. Diversity in age, in gender and in ethnicity, there was someone from every walk of life. I truly think that speaks to the heart of Boston and the people who reside here. Boston is a city that was founded on human rights and free speech and the people of Boston have made clear what they want: A ceasefire and a free Palestine.
